Biography

Muhsin Kar was born in Kahramanmaraş, Turkiye. He completed his undergraduate studies at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics, his master’s degree in the field of Economic Development at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, and his doctorate in the field of Economics at Loughborough University. Professor Kar, who was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Southern California in the USA, received the titles of Associate Professor in 2005 and Professor in 2011 in the field of Macroeconomics. Muhsin Kar, whose areas of study are economic development, growth, foreign direct investment, European integration, transition economies, and especially the financial sector-real sector interaction, has carried out academic works at the Departments of Economics at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, Çukurova University, Necmettin Erbakan University, and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University; and worked as co-head of department, head of department, deputy director, deputy dean, dean, and deputy rector at the universities where he worked. He still continues his academic studies as a Faculty Member at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics. In addition to the projects supported by the State Planning Organization (SPO) and TUBITAK, Professor Kar also took a role as a Bologna Expert in the Bologna Project supported by the National Agency and carried out by CoHE. Muhsin Kar, who is married with three children, is a full member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences. He has been serving as the President of THEQC and a Council Member representing Inter-University Council since January 2022.
