Biography
Aysen Güven works as Director Education for the British Council in Türkiye.
She leads on academic strategy and quality assurance of English, Education and Science programmes with national institutions and universities.
Since 2014, Aysen has led on several institutional and national capacity building projects of the British Council focusing on improving the quality of English in higher education. She has been working closely with the Council of Higher Education and the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council to set up a National Quality Assurance Scheme in collaboration with the BALEAP, EAQUALS, DEDAK and other UK experts to define and implement the minimum standards of English Preparatory Programmes for English Medium Universities in Turkey.
Ayşen studied Foreign Language Education at the Middle East Technical University, and received her MA in Management in Education from Bilkent University where she worked for 20 years as a lecturer, teacher trainer and manager.
Ayşen is an active member of International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) where she has been the Coordinator of the Special Interest Group for English for Specific Purposes between 2013-2019. She has special interests and expertise in strategic leadership, quality assurance, English Medium Instruction, and change management.
