Is Yours a Learning Organization? (hint: It should be)

In learning organizations, the staff continually create, acquire, and transfer knowledge.  In the classic LO literature, this happens as a result of external competition and the requirement to remain agile and perpetually creative.  In schools of foreign languages, the idea of the LO remains the same, but in this instance, the competition may be internal – with itself – particularly in the context of quality. By establishing and maintaining a Learning Organization, the unit has a much greater focus on growth and improvement, while also ensuring a greater ability to respond to external and internal shocks.

The reality is, however, few educational organizations have achieved the status of a true Learning Organization. The reason being that research clearly indicates that few educational leaders understand the so-called building blocks of a learning organization.

This session will take participants through a variety of stages for understanding these building blocks, whether their teams are operating within a learning environment, and, most importantly, what administrators and managers can do to foster the growth of their SFL or Prep program as a Learning Organization.
