Quality Enhancement in English Medium Instruction in Higher Education and the Role of Leadership
Aim and Scope: Aiming to evaluate language specialists’ perceptions on the extent to which the academic leadership is quality and learning-focused in the institutions in contexts where English is used as the medium of instruction (EMI) to teach students who speak various first languages, this survey was designed by Dr. Burcu Tezcan-Unal based on her following work:
- Tezcan-Unal, B., Winston, K., & Qualter, A. (2019). Learning-oriented quality assurance in higher education institutions. Quality in Higher Education, 24(3), 221-237. doi.org/10.1080/13538322.2018.1558504
- A quality and learning- focused academic leadership model, Tezcan-Unal, B., Winston, K. & Qualter, A. (2019- journal article in review by Tertiary Education and Management)
- Reflections on English-medium instruction in Turkish higher education institutions, educational quality and international comparisons (book chapter, in progress- Tezcan-Unal, B. & Schmitt, D.)
Note: The word ‘leader’ was used to refer to a range of people in higher education institutions, that is, anyone who leads a team of three and more people to coordinators, head of departments, deans, and other senior administrators.
